“I want revenge.” […] “And then I want my crown.” ― Kendare Blake, Three Dark Crowns

The story of this book for me it is super original and unique. I might have not read that much, but I really like the whole concept of the matriarchy and the way to get to the crown. There are several themes on this novel that call my attention so much because they are so slightly alike reality. The killing of the others to get to the throne, the war between groups, religious power over the government, and corruption. Once on power, you do not want to relinquish it. Corruption on the governments and the move of influences for the sake of the government or the crown.

I started reading this book and then found out the the second one was coming soon, which happened a few weeks ago. That was a boost to my reading, and also because I finished Harry Potter and The Beginning of Everything. All falls in place and the shelves start to thin. I think that some things will be explained on the second book, which most of you have read by this time, but I am not eager yet to buy the Kindle book for $10… not yet… though… XD

I believe the style and the way Blake decides to tell the story is a way to play with us. The description of Katherine and how she was put through hell made me feel compassion for her. Then I turned the page and that changed… completely. Now, we have Arsione, I liked her all the way and I always did. I was sad for her simplicity and her acceptance of death and the hope for something different. Jules was just amazing and I think that her role in this novel is short from finishing! I imagine a whole mess to come for the Quickening and I hope to be right! Mirabella for some reason I pictured it so voluptuous and strong and sweet, but things change at the end… treason and plot will change us all.

How Blake decided to finish the book is just so infuriating but so well done! Those are the plot twists that I like and I believe it was well done.

I will recommend the readers that if you like the review, then to read the book. It is really good and I will grand it 4 starts for the plot twist, the story, the characters, and the intriguing second book to come!

I never use Kindle lending, but at least check out your library! It’s a cool feature if your library offers it 🙂
