Tech Summary: Read from January 8, 2018, to January 11, 2018.
Okay… So we are in the second book… Fast isn’t it? Not really… They are super easy to read and I am not complaining!
I said in the last review (The Lightning Thief) something about Percy’s naiveness, right? Well, the thing is that I find kind of silly the fact that the characters/heroes are so intuitive and they see that some things are wrong and they know it’s a trap and they still go for it… I get it… They are all dauntless and daredevils and heroes! But it is still xD it is like walking on the street and then a guy on a ban offers you Reese’s, but what can happened, right? So either that is part of the morale of the books “don’t trust strangers” or “go for it, you will survive at the end”… I go for the first one… Please, you all go for the first one.
Something that almost made me throw the book through my window was The Graeae, the three grey witches or sisters. For a second I thought were the same as the Moirai, and I saw a huge flaw in the story from book one… But they are similar but not the same.
Again… The movies are an aberration… *End of comment*
I think we are still too early to see any improvement in Percy’s personality towards maturity… But only one year has passed… You can, however, see the difference in the relationship with Annabeth! They are growing together, and for the ending of book 2, I predict that The First have great adventures full of dangers for our protagonist.
The direct mentions of real mythology and characters are still mesmerizing! Tyson’s character is great and adds a lot to the family importance theme. Hubris is so common in heroes, and I like the twist if not being the only fatal flaw. I see some huge fillers such as Tantalus and the other heroes from the Hermes cabin.
*Quick spoiler*
(I don’t get how Hermes can interfere with Percy’s quests… Aren’t they not supposed to get involved or help directly? Hmm, I get Ares… But Hermes… Maybe it was because he was giving a quest?)
*End of spoiler*
So, the kingdom has given this book:
It seems that the kingdom is happy but not in love, but the knights have spoken!
