outlet, discounts, buy books, discount books, amazon books, bookoutlet
If you have had the chance to read one of my previous posts: “4 series I want to start or finish this year!”, you might understand better this. The same friend that recommended “The Giver Quartet” is the same friend that told me about this site where one can buy books at a discounted price, and there was when the curiosity killed the credit card. I had to check it out, and when I did, I bought around 10 books for $30… YES, TEN BOOKS FOR $30!
It is a good deal! And I have found and bought really good books for an amazing price! “Noggin”: $2.99, “Everything I never told you”: $5.94, the complete Harry Potter series (I bought them on Amazon but they were the seller), so yes, they do offer ready good deals.
I am trying to get out of this story is the shipping costs… I am not entirely sure how this is calculated and its fairness… But in order to buy the 7 Harry Potter books for $30, I was supposed to pay $56 of shipping, and THAT my readers, it is just way too much! Yes, I am saving on the items but spending it on shipping. In Amazon, however, the shipping was $26… do you see my point?
There are only 2 sites that I visit to buy books: Amazon.com and Bookoutlet.com. I will set the example with those two, and I am going to talk about International shipping. If you are in the US or in Canada, you might not find the shipping cost relevant, but it will give you a glimpse of the beauty of saving money.
So I tested it out:
- Fates and Furies (Hardcover) $10.98 + Schizo (Hardcover) $14.17 + Somebody Up There Hates You (Paperback) $9.88 = $35.03 + International shipping ($22.52) = $57.55.
- Fates and Furies (Hardcover) $8.99 + Schizo (Hardcover) $2.99 + Somebody Up There Hates You (Paperback) $3.99 = $15.97 + International shipping ($25.69) = $41.66.
You see? $15.89 in savings!
Usually, the shipping fee on Bookoutlet is going to a little bit higher than on Amazon. HOWEVER, the price of the books on Bookoutlet is lower than on Amazon. This really depends on the book and what the Bookoutlet considers “discounted” price. For example, the difference in “Fates and Furies” is only $2, so if you buy the book alone in Amazon, you will be paying $11.98 in shipping, but on Bookoutlet the shipping is $17.46.
This is just the case of my country. I am not saying that it will be the same for everybody, and I have no preference on either page as I equally have used both… but my point is: investigate, surf, make the math, check your bank statement, and keep looking because the princes change on both sites, and you might find amazing deals on both of them.
⇒⇒⇒If you want to join this amazing site, Bookoutlet.com, go ahead an do it by clicking on the link or HERE! You will earn some points that you will be able to exchange for discounts on the page! Discounts everywhere! ($10 off and points!)⇐⇐⇐

I always thought Amazon is not the cheapest place to shop. All of my friends shop on Amazon, for everything and not just books. Amazon is their go-to shopping center. But since I shop in different places, I see there are other places that are cheaper. Great analysis! Why not include Book Depository? it doesn’t ship to your country?

I think Amazon is pretty cheap… maybe also the convenience of buying everything in one single place make it to appealing for a lot of people? Haha but yes, I know like if you go around you may find other places that will give you different benefits and other prices… So I will keep looking around ! Thank you very much for the suggestion!
No Jasmine :(, they don’t ship to my country at least not when I checked like 2 years ago xD but I will check that on the weekend maybe that has changed 😛
Thank you for coming and commenting! :3

Amazon it is amazing for everything! You are completely right! I usually don’t buy books in my country because they are super expensive, that is why I rather use Amazon or Book Outlet for books ;P
The Giver it’s an amazing book! You are completely right on that! I have reviewed the first, second, and third book! So check them out maybe they will inspire you to keep reading!! :3

Besides my local, large chain bookstores, I usually use Amazon since shipping is free and I can preorder books as well. I’ve been using thriftbooks.com to build a collection of books from my childhood. (I’m pretty sure they ship internationally, one of my books came from Russia.) Book Depository is great too! You can look for the cheapest price and they ship internationally.

I try not to use local bookstores because in my country everything is a little bit more expensive xD I have an account with thriftbooks.com but I have never used it… They might ship to my country so I will give it a try one day thank you very much for sharing!
Book Depository doesn’t ship internationally to my country 😦 So I haven’t used it haha
Thank you very much for confirming the other website! I was a bit suspicious before xD
I appreciate your comments Brittany!! :3

When i buy unused books i go for Amazon sales 😀
Book depository is good sometimes but you need to find the deals. 90% of the time it’s same price as amazon but with longer shipping time

“longer shipping” time does not work XD unless the prices are low as f haha
If you ever see an Amazon Sale for unused books tweet me! 😀

It’s usually sale for kindle…
Although, the base price on amazon is usually way cheaper than getting the books in store, especially for books that are out for a while.
