Perks of being a wallflower, we were infinite, MTV books, YA book, best book ever, must read
Hello book royalists!
There is an expression that can summarize my reaction and admiration for this book, and it is “wow”. A really simple word but darn it! It has its power. I mean it! I was in my bed finishing this book. It was around 11pm when I did … I finished… and I just closed the book put it next to me and stared at the wall… My mind was in blank… I was petrified and a simple, again, question came to my mind “Now what? What will I do with my life from now on?”
I strongly recommend reading all the books that Charlie read. The reason for this is because those books give hints and guide the reader through Charlie’s head. What I mean is that they help you understand what is going on with Charlie starting from his struggle of finding who he is and that he must overcome his indifference toward the world that surrounds him, and also, because all the books are amazing! Pure and perfect literature (Even though I did not like Peter Pan that much) Even the music makes it even more “heartbreaking.”
I really like and I find impressive is how Chbosky improved Charlie’s writing skills from the first chapters. He literally gives life to the character. How he gives this “heavy” literature works to a 15/16-year old boy. The books depicted all the issues Charlie was experiencing and illustrate all his feelings and inner world. Hamlet the tragic heroe, Holden the modern and new Quixote hero, Pan who does not want to grow up, and the Gatsby teaching that life gives the chances only once, and one must take them when one has them in front.
There is human experience, which I said before, make this book so appealing and shocking to the reader. The simple fact that you can identify with the character’s pain and struggles make it pure gold and superior to any other book. Chbosky achieves to create this perfect connection between the reader and the characters by writing letters to his dear friend, which I believe it turned out to be me or you. It is impossible not to fall in love of the characters as one can almost touch their pain, their laughs, their tears, and one can picture their smiles.
Too many feelings, too much trauma, too many tears, too much love, and too much life make this book a must to read. Beyond all I have read recently, this book became the one first love. The kind of love that you never forget or overcome.
I loved this book that much that I even listened to the audiobook which was even greater than the book, the narration was so vivid and so… Charlie. He was literary talking to me, and he was so so so so damnly sweet!
I want you to have the list of the books that Charlie reads through the novel, great recommendations!
