I had so many thoughts while reading this book, and I added the updates on Goodreads, so if you want to follow me there! Feel free to hit the “add friend” button! I swear there are no “challenge questions”!

If you read the previews reviews about this books, you will know that I really enjoy them. With this book, at some point, I am all intrigued and down for it. Then, I am all confused and wondering what is going on! They are here, they are among us, but they are us, and we are them…? I know humanity is wrong and we are bad for the world and for ourselves, but I am not sure if that was metaphorical or not…

Something that I might have missed to mention but it’s worth mentioning is that I really enjoy how Rick’s style is a mix of jokes and heavy emotional burden. One moment you are suffering for this character and how close they are to die and then you are laughing at the silly jokes and inner jokes of a private diary… this is totally enjoyable and a good read.

From the first book, we see how Even the-7-lives-cat is in love with Cassie or the idea of Cassie the solely human. However, at this point of the saga, we can totally understand that it was not an “idea” but more like foreshadowing. Even fell for Cassie because she was naive and innocent thinking that she was the last human; therefore, she was humanity… but in the end, she became humanity and she became one with him. It was a moment where I gasped put down the book and I enjoyed the sweet tea of dystopian love and “destiny”.

I would like to see a quick novel of how things end up in the future. The war is not over and never will… I understand why people might not like it… the same reason they didn’t like Allegiant, but I think the ending was just perfect and the cherry on top of the emotional burden of this saga.

    I’m glad to see you liked this series. I absolutely loved The 5th Wave and still thought The Infinite Sea was great but this last part kind of missed some things. In a way it felt totally different and lost its great atmosphere from the first book. Great review! 🙂

      I totally see that. It has a complete different voice and even approach I think. I am not sure if it was the “focus shift”… like we have book 2 and 3 with different point of views.

      Do you think the story lost is north?

      The 5th wave was excellent! I know I said this but Cassie had this crazy way to talking like.. Literally mad haha it was really good! It even gave me some gloomy feelings 😀

        I don’t think it lost it’s north but I felt like the ending wasn’t what I thought it would be… But it has been a long time since I’ve read them. I know that the different approach in book 2 & 3 wasn’t for me. But I will always love The 5th Wave 😀

        Expectations! Those damn expectations XD yeah… The 5th Wave was incredible and in my top 5! 😀 It didn’t lost its north but I do think that the shift on Cassie being the main voice change and affected the other books 😀

    I’m so happy you enjoyed the ending to this series. While The Last Star kind of lost me, I could still appreciate many of the choices Yancey made. I don’t remember everything about the book, but I do remember feeling as if the author had lost hold of Cassie’s personality completely. She seemed like a completely different character by the end from the one we were introduced to in The 5th Wave. I felt as if she lost a bit of her drive in the face of her love for Evan. And that’s mostly why this book didn’t work for me. But I read it a while ago, so I’m kind of unsure LOL. The action is good though, and the figurative/metaphorical points in theme also gave the story a boost. Wonderful review!! 😀

      She was completely different after book one, like whatever she went through and her little obsession and infatuation with the guy kind of changed her, but I was able to see her again when she was trying to hold to her past and to Sam as the old times. Or we just didn’t see enough of her on the other books as in book one since that one was more intimate and towards Cassie’s mind. The ending… I am not sure like she became humanity and the scapegoat but… it all happen because of Evan… we should talk for hours about this I am sure 😀

        Yeah, she popped up again in some situations, so she wasn’t completely lost after Evan-of-the-endless-lives. Just the ending felt a little off to me. I feel as if I understand what the author was trying to achieve, but didn’t quite get there? But yeah, it’s a great talking point. I might try to reread them so I could actually sound like I know what I’m talking about XD lol

        Haha I wanted to listen to the audiobooks because the first book’s man narrator was incredible but the second books don’t have him so I quite lost it haha but I see the idea of the sacrifice and all that but it kind of came from the nowhere :O and I cracked at the endless lives part hahahaha
