Hello book royalist!
I am not sure if you all know this… but I made a huge discovery! In Goodreads! that if you don’t have me there, this is your chance to add me! I swear that I am fun!
Now, I was suffering like everybody else because I got into some books… and I had to stop reading them because… well… I didn’t get the book? I didn’t like it? enjoy it? or I didn’t find sense in the meaning of life of me reading that book? Who knows… the thing is that I added a shelf to Goodreads but every time I added it there… it was added also to the challenge and to the “Read” shelf! Which is no good!
So, I discovered the holy grail of DNFing books! I hope you find the tips below useful! Share the knowledge with the world!
How do you add a shelf that doesn’t mess up with your “Read” or “Challenge”?
- We need to go to Goodreads and go to “My Books”
- Then tap on “Edit” on the left top corner below “My Books”
- Then create a new shelf. I named mine “DNF AF”
- Mark that self as “Exclusive”
- You are done! You have a DNF shelf that will allow you to remember those little punks that didn’t let themselves be read! and you will not be “damaging” your challenge or adding books to the “Read” one that you didn’t read!
Now, you wonder, why “exclusive”? According to Goodreads, an exclusive shelf is:
All members have three default shelves (read, currently-reading, and to-read), which are mutually exclusive, meaning a book can only be on one of them. Members can create as many additional shelves as they like, and books can be on as many non-exclusive shelves as you desire. This may be useful for shelves such as “reference” or “gave-up-on.” It may take a few minutes for the changes to propagate if you have a lot of books on this shelf.
Enjoy your DNFing books from now and on!!
