Welcome to a second installment of the series of events that lead me to buy more books without being afraid. I have the tendency to get all the books of a series even when I haven’t even read the first one.
Some said that is not logical, and others might say that is blind trust, but I think that is: I will just read them all ’cause I trust the author. I will call myself brave and I will give you some more examples of the series that I have bought all at once without reading the first one.
The Giver

I watched the movie and then I realized there was a series, a quartet of books. I wanted an explanation of what happened after the movie so I bought them. I loved book 1 and enjoy book 2. I found book 3 interesting, and I never got into book 4. However, it took me 4 years to get into them. Did I regret getting them? Not really. Will I finish them? At some point…
LOTR

I thought it was time for me to get into these books, and I bought the 3 together on a special beautiful edition. I think this is just like Harry Potter, and I loved the movies when I was a kid and I don’t even know I understood them then. However, I got into the first book after finishing The Hobbit and then dived into the second one, and The Two Towers was DNF because I can’t stand Frodo…
Every day

I got books 1 and 2 of these series. I read the first book and I was so impressed by the premise and for how incredible the book was, but then talking with people about it, I agreed that I am not sure how this extends to a series. I haven’t jumped into reading the second one, and I don’t even know what the third one is about.
Do you consider yourself brave to buy the saga all at once?
