In Inkish Kingdoms, we try to read as many books as possible, and this includes to try different stories and genres. We usually dive blindly into the books based on the synopsis and without knowing much about the story or the author, so we wanted to try something different

I asked around some of fellow readers and reviewers to about their favorite genres and the ones that they call themselves experts on. I asked Arina if she could help us pick one of the best books to start into SFF, which to our surprised is Science Fiction and Fantasy. I liked that on her site, I was able to know more about how she reads and works with indie authors! The Edge Chronicles: Beyond The Deepwoods

These is a 10 -book series for those small readers from 9 to 12, but that shouldn’t stop you to dive directly into the adventures of Twig. Many readers have read it and enjoyed it, and so should you! This universe is for fans for Harry Potter, and those who are looking for alternative. Original and full of fun!

Hollow Road by Dan Fitzgerald

Three companions since childhood are tasked with bringing a friend’s body home for burial, and along the way, they find that the mountains hold threats even darker than the Maer, legends of savage man-beats that haunt in the mountains. What they discover on their journey will change the way they see the world. Travel down Hollow Road to find out which legends are true, and which have been twisted.

Arina tells us that she was absorbed by this story from the beginning because of its mysterious vibes and also because Hollow Road remind her about classic RPG games. [See her full review here]

The Sentient by Nadia Afifi

Arina also reviewed this book and has great comments about it! She can bet that this is for those readers that I reluctant to get into the Sci-Fi. The author, Nadia Afifi, delivers a fantastic and disquieting story that tackles human cloning, technological, religion oppression, and scientific advancements. [See her full review here]

The Harp of Kings by Juliet Marillier

There are many praises for Juliet Marillier on the fantasy worlds that she builds! They are breathtaking, enchanting, and utterly perfect! Totally a series worth giving it a try!

A Song of Wraiths and Ruin by Roseanne A. Brown

The first story in the fantasy duology inspired by West African folklore. Perfect to broaden your fantasy worlds Roseanne A. Brown writes a story of a grieving crown princess and a desperate refugee who are trying to kill each other. Perfect for fans of Tomi Adeyemi, Renée Ahdieh, and Sabaa Tahir.

Arina seems to have enjoyed this story a lot! Part of a blog tour, she was able to sense how the author put every inch of herself on this novel. For Arina, starting this book was like being allowed through the massive gates of a monumental citadel. The first thing you see when you open the pages are streets bustling with noise, color, and effervescent vitality calling attention to every corner at once. [See her full review here]

The Salvage Crew by Yudhanjaya Wijeratne

An AI overseer and a human crew arrive on a distant planet to salvage an ancient UN starship. The overseer is unhappy. The crew, well, they’re certainly no A-team. By signing up to Kindle Unlimited, you can read this Sci-Fi book, where its characters go away into exploring the mysteries of the universe. This wouldn’t be the first time I read some sort of space odyssey and world conquering stories, but Yudhanjaya Wijeratne writes this story with humor and, for sure, passion!
