Am I starting the gay parade too soon? Maybe! Should I wait until Prime Month? No, by then we will go all crazy, gay, and, redundantly, happy!
I am one of those readers that will judge a book for its cover and I am, most likely, buying the books I don’t know anything about based on their cover. Beautiful cover I see, beautiful cover I get! And you cannot judge me because we all do this at some point. Now, imagine how these books will look in your Instagram Feed? Or in your Booktoks?
So, what lets check this beautiful book covers!
Here the Whole Time by Vitor Martins
A body-positive YA love story between two boys who must spend 15 days living with each other over school break.
I love that this is a novel written by a Vitor Martins a Brazilian author! I love to discover different perspectives of queer literature by other people besides the States.
Felipe is not chubby; he doesn’t have big bones. He is fat, and he does not need to people pointing out… but of course, everybody has to point this out. Finally, school break is here! And Felipe will be able to spend some time far away from everybody. His plans include catching up on his favorite TV shows, finishing his to-be-read pile, and watching YouTube tutorials. But things get a little out of hand when Felipe’s mom informs him that Caio, the neighbor kid from apartment 57, will be spending the next 15 days with them while his parents are on vacation.
Can’t Take That Away by Steven Salvatore
An empowering and emotional debut about a genderqueer teen who finds the courage to stand up and speak out for equality when they are discriminated against by their high school administration.
What I find lovely about this story is how Carey Parker dreams of being a diva, and how they bring the house down when they sing. Carey has a dream, they are fighting for it, Carey has the talent and the conviction, and also the love interest that is pushing they to their best self! And be on the main stage!
As Far as You’ll Take Me by Phil Stamper
Marty arrives in London with nothing but his oboe and some savings. He’s excited to start his new life–where he’s no longer the closeted, shy kid who slips under the radar and is free to explore his sexuality without his parents’ disapproval but not all what shines is gold.
I have read Phil Stamper’s previous novel “The Gravity of Us“, and I was part of an interview where I was able to learn more about his process and his book. I love how the story seems to dive into Marty’s definition of sexuality and identity. Moving out to another country will give for sure the freedom to experiment freely who he is, how he wants to be, and how culture clash will impact his plans of freedom and happiness. Honestly, moving to another country is a low key plan for me. I am excited and since I listens to the previous book, I will listen to this too!
In Deeper Waters by F.T. Lukens
Prince Tal has awaited for his coming-of-age tour. He has spent his life cloistered in a palace learning forbidden magic. He tastes finally the adventure, but then his crew found a prisoner on the ship! Tal has to watch over him and find himself feeling an intense connection with Athlen, the prisoner, but he manages to scape overboard and Tal is heartbroken. But destiny is in their path as Tal finds Athlen again, but then he is kidnaped by pirates!
I mean look at all this colors! Look at how gay they look and how hard I am buying this in hardcover! We have fantasy, magic, and gays! Pirates, which were really gay, sea, adventures, and romance! I have to confess that I have pre-ordered this so hard!
The Sky Blues b y Robbie Couch
Skyโs small town turns absolutely claustrophobic when his secret promposal plans get leaked to the entire school in this witty, heartfelt, and ultimately hopeful debut novel for fans of What if itโs Us? and I Wish You All the Best.
Although I am not a fan of “What if it’s Us”, I have to confess that seeing this unicorn hoodie, in this blue sky makes me happy to be gay and to have the change to read this live on Instagram! Imagine the collection of blue books and this one on top of the haul! This simply sounds sweet, dramatic, and fun to read!
The Friend Scheme
Mattโs father is a criminal and hopes that Matt will follow his steps. His family is at war with another – regular criminal stuff-. Matt and his older brother are expected to fight for their family, but Matt – like a good younger song – has other ambitions and attractions.
I honestly loved the premises of this novel! It gives me Godfather vibes where the younger son has to follow with the family business. Although I didn’t quite like the Godfather, this book has that gay hopefulness of falling in love with the wrong guy! ’cause he could be either part of the enemy or simply another criminal! I am digging this novel so much!
