4 reasons why ebooks are better than physical books

Are ebooks better than physical books? That depends on the reader but we give you some reasons why some people think they are better

This is not a discussion, nor a fight, nor our intentions are to piss the sensibilities of those die-hard lovers of paper books. Our intentions are to share with readers why we read so many ebooks and why we feel so comfortable with them…

Previously we shared not very valid reasons as to why physical books are better than ebooks, and if you wanna check that, I encourage you to do so as that post is hilarious. All those arguments were given by a die-hard lover of physical books, and a die-hard hater of ebooks… so we are being 100% objective here and there.

eBooks are faster than physical books

What do we mean? Well to buy a physical book you either have to go to the nearest book store or place the order online for them to ship it to you… so there are “transportation” fees.

Don’t take me wrong, I love going to the book store and looking at all those books and spending 8 hours reading blurbs and watching covers and finding deals and whatnot, but there is also a certain appeal to not going outside of the house to start reading a book on the spot! One-click away to start reading right away! haha

eBooks are cheaper than physical books

This is true and not true at the same time… Some ebooks end up being cheaper than physical books, but there is something that physical books have that ebooks don’t have: shipping costs…

Now, some ebooks are cheaper than paper books, but not all the time. Unless that you are reading from the “Great on Kindle” selection!

Great on Kindle” is a category that Amazon has for ebooks that are:

  1. Cheaper than physical books
  2. Optimization for images (zoom in and out, which you can’t do on a paper book)
  3. Navigation is just the best! You can go everywhere on the book without the need of a bookmark, it will remember your location for you
  4. Discover places, words, people, and more using this feature! Something I complained about reading “World War Z” was the mention of so many places that I didn’t know, well with this feature I can know more about that without going to my phone!

Most of those features are available for all ebooks, but many memoirs, biographies, and history books have this for you to learn more!

Also, we are in a constant look-up for ebooks on sale and discounts! You can follow us on Twitter where we share daily the best deals available! If you wish to get an email from us with those, comment that you want and sign up for our newsletter!

eBooks are better for students!

I have been a student for almost 12 years… yes, I like to study! I have a BA in English and Literature, a Master in Marketing, and Oxford studies! All of those I did with my Kindle next to me! There is nothing like looking for your highlights, notes, and doing WORD SEARCHES!! Something you can’t do on a physical book! It is so easy to read classics, highlight them, and then look back to your notes and important parts! Even if you don’t remember in full part of the book but you remember a word, you can search for the word to find that place you need! Also, they have a dictionary integrated, so if you don’t know what a word means, you can just tap on it and the Oxford dictionary will tell you to want and need!

Seriously! I did all my essays with my Kindle and I didn’t cry more than 3 times!

Classics are free!

A lot of classics are free! Amazon has its own versions of the classics with commentary and corrections, and then usually are free! 95% of the selection is free! Some others are free without anything special, but they might come with typos and grammar errors :/ not a nice experience! Bad editing!

Again, if you prefer to buy a set of Stabilo pastels highlighters and sticky notes, you can do so! Nobody is stopping you! If you want to read only physical books, that is fine! If you want to read only ebooks, that is fine too! Mix around or don’t, at the end reading is what matters! And reading an ebook or a book is the same!

All very true. Plus, the obvious one of not having a heavy bag when traveling ๐Ÿ˜…

I still prefer physical books though, as I just have an easier time reading them.
